Oh My God We're All Gonna Die!!!

My apologies well in advance but I just have to vent.

The other day I mentioned that I gave up on reading the news online or in the paper simply because I found it too depressing. Well as I said before I cheat which sucks because the news are still depressing but what the hell. I am annoyed by two things

1. The fact that our chancellor and every other leader of the free world seems to think next year is going to be terrible. Which is probably true but hell what a way to motivate folks.

2. The eejit-like behaviour of some governments who bail out banks that offered credit to the credit-unworthy. And now the very same banks can go on to lend money to people that should in no way be offered any more credit in order to boost the economy.

Sometimes I wonder if the world is schizophrenic. First there is a call out that people should not worry and spend money to help the economy and when that is done they then conjure up the apocalypse. No wonder consumers are frightened when they hear the horrible outlook for next years. It’s as if they can’t make up their mind. Sometimes I am expecting the government to call on folks to stock up on drinking water and canned food they make it look so grim. That’s when I just want to scream “we’re all doomed” and hide myself in the basement.

Please excuse me while I breathe into this brown paper bag. I think we’re all well aware that the economy is in the shitter right now. And without a doubt there will be tough times ahead but this is not a time to panic and certainly not the only time things have been or ever will be in the shitter. So media and government grow a pair, get your fucking act together and act like responsible grown-ups.

I am done ranting now. This is exhausting!

I agree with you 100%. Getting people into more debt to boost the economy? There's got to be a better way. So frustrating.

Better stock up on brown paper bags! :(

Melisa So true sista. It is frustrating but let's not fret over it. Enjoy Thanksgiving with your entire family :)

Yes, it makes me angry that a bunch of gamblers seem to control pensions, investments, etc, and that if they decide to have a bad few days they can do so much apparent harm.

I find the best thing to do is to ignore it. Life's pretty much a lottery at best anyway...

I was angry when my government bailed out those credit happy, loan companies. Now, the big three auto makers are asking for the same thing. Ticks me off!

Totally agree. I think it's all the doom-mongering is what got us here, to be honest. If you tell people often enough that we're all going to hell in an handbasket, they'll believe it. (Except me, who will go stock up on shoes. Just in case.)

Brian I'd love to ignore it but I just can't. My bloodpressure went up a few good points just thinking about it.

Michelle Couldn't agree more. Bad news before bad almost certainly bring bad dreams.

Tara R. Absolutely. Every hard working person would go insane thinking about it. What good have they ever done for us?

Amber At least the shoe industry isn't going to suffer. LOL. I'm all for buying shoes in any situation.

So true,so true! Just blog hopping and yours was one of the few that caught my eye! I enjoy your writing, and especially like your quote about drinking coffee so you can do dumb things faster. lol

DO NOT get me started. There are so many things F'd up about this situation that I could easily get into a total rant-a-thon!

@Tara R- Ah! The Auto companies want *loans* that they will probably pay back, Chrysler did - with interest to boot. However, the banks are "selling" already *known* bad debt to the taxpayer.

HUGE difference.
