Of course you dispose of them in your household trash and hope they wont resurface again.
This morning as I was checking all the news websites to get my daily fix I came across this. It is equally disgusting as it is sickening. The Headline read “Scrunchies made from used condoms”. You would think I surely must have found this in some supermarket tabloid. I am sorry to say that this is not the case. The story is rather true and was reported in one of Germany’s most reputable news magazines "Der Spiegel".
In the southern Chinese province Guangdong they are selling scrunchies made from used condoms. The colorful but potentially dangerous rubbers have surfaced in beauty parlors in cities like Guangzhou and Dongguan. At least that is what the Chinese newspaper “China Daily” reports. As the recycled condoms are cheaper than conventional scrunchies they are increasingly popular. Doctors are warning that they are a health hazard because they may still contain bacteria or viruses.
Now I am all for the use of condoms but only if they are being used in a conventional way for what they were originally made for. Nothing like having this kind of news with your morning coffee. I am totally grossed out now.

I'm all for saving the environment.
I'm a big fan of reducing, reusing, and recycling.
I even forgive Sheryl Crow for her comments about how we should all use just one square of toilet paper to wipe (get real....)....
But this: this is disgusting.
This is potentially unsafe (according to the doctors quoted...).
This should not be happening...
that's so gross! I wonder if you saw photos of those scrunchies so I can identify what to avoid? Or maybe I'll just avoid all scrunchies!
