That's a Load of

... bull cat shit. Seriously just yesterday I commented this post on Melisa's blog how the hubby and I do share the chores in our household and how I can't clean up vomit etc.

It just so happened that I came home to this:

Yes, we should be grateful for the little things. In this case the fact that my cell phone camera isn't the best.

This humongous pile of cat doody was found in our guest bedroom after the cleaning lady accidently locked Lilly in. The hubby unfortunately wasn't at hand to aid me in cleaning up this stink bomb. On a positive note I did not toss my cookies though I retched like a madwoman.

With this I leave you to it and hope you'll be having a great weekend.

Behold the Weather Cat

All of you who know me also know I am bit of a nut when it comes to cats. So much so that the husband threatened to divorce me should I bring a third cat into our home. Given the fact that we (unless I happen to drag a kitty home tonight) will be celebrating our 2nd anniversary tomorrow.

He never said anything about bringing cats into my immediate surroundings. Yeah I am smart like that. I just supply cat's to people around me who frequently ask me to catsit and I'm only too happy to oblige. Which meant that last weekend I had five, yes you read that right, five cats to love and hold and touch and pet and play with.

Needless to say that I am a happy camper right now and laughed my head off when I saw this cat wandering onto the set of a live weather forecast by Germany's leading weatherman. First you see the tip of the cat's tail then the weatherman decides to pick up the cat and finishes the forecast with the cat in his arms.

How was your weekend?

Done and Done - In Your Face Suckers

The last day of November and I can't believe I kicked NaBloPoMo's ass. Who would have thought? Ok so the hubby helped out but I totally would have blogged if he hadn't jumped in.

Our cats' nemesis, an abandoned cat that's been wandering through our neighboorhood, that we took in one night when temperatures were around 17°F , has found a home with the neighbor that looks after our cats when we're gone.

Friday night the two of them came for dinner. Our cats were not pleased and as the male cat dominated their habitat they weren't in the best mood. The nameless cat is called Jerry. Our neighbor's name is Tom so the poor cat never had a chance of a decent name. If the cat's previous owner isn't found Tom is gonna keep the little munchkin that has paws like a panther and we can catsit for him as well. Payback time. I knew it was only a matter of months till we got to make it up to him.

Anywho...our doodle bugs are happy to be rid of the four legged "cat"astrophy. Have a wonderful Sunday and NaBloPoMo? I will see you in 2009!

The House of the Flying Cat

In case you have never been to our house you probably don't know that crazy cat is living under our roof.

Every weekend she has breakfast with us. She will wait patiently in front of our bedroom until we get up and if we take too long she might help along by scratching on the door to make it known that she is now ready for breakfast to be served.

Each item we carry from the kitchen to the dining room table is carefully accompanied. One can never be too sure if it isn't magically disappearing in one of the towering humans on the way.

As soon as we sit down the cat sticks come out and I don't know if they contain catnip or not but something in them makes both our cats go crazy.

Watch the video to see Maunzerl in action catching bits of cat stick in mid-air.

Lilly watch out

If we were to keep feeding you everytime you're begging for food you would look like Princess Chunk. The princess weighs in at 44 lbs. Read more about it here.

Photy by John Costello for Chicagotribune.com

I'm just saying!

In Lilly's defense I gotta say that she's slimmed down for the summer and now weighs in at about 9-10 lbs.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

The other day I come home during my lunchbreak, the two cats come running to me and we do what we always do. We cuddle on the couch.

During a quiet moment I hear a cat meowing in total panic. I look around and both of our cats are sleeping. Hmm. I check the hall, nothing. When I look out the window I see the neighbor from across the street looking into our direction. I look out the window to our balcony and I see a Persian cat on the projecting roof of the adjacent apartment building.

The cat looks shit scared and everytime she moves, she is sliding further down the roof. I hesitate for a second wondering where to get help then run to the phone to call the firebrigade. That's when I see the owner running out of the house with another guy who carries a big ass ladder. The cat looks absolutely terrified by now and before you know it they have put the ladder up. The cat was so shocked by all the ruckus that it suddenly took all its courage together and jumped back into the tiny window it probably came crawling out of in the first place.

Crisis averted!!!! Phew! I would have been more than devastaded if something would have happened to that cat. Just like the time when three little birdies fell out of their nest and onto our balcony. They couldn't be rescued and the hubby had to....well you get the gist. I was so depressed that I cried for three days straight.

Kitlers in the purrred Reich

What a weekend that was. It was truly enjoyable. The hubby and I went out on Saturday night and only got back at 5a.m. I don't even remember the last time I stayed up that late and enjoyed myself so much. I mean 5a.m. for my age feels like two days of non-stop partying at 21.

Sunday wasn't ruined at all, though I have the slight suspicion that the tiredness will catch up with me sometime today. We skipped breakfast on Sunday morning and went out for dinner with a friend instead and later on even managed to go to see a movie. We had a good laugh watching "Love Vegas". I loved it because it was a really cute and funny date movie.

Back in work and although we only have a three day week ahead of us (did I mention that I love living in Bavaria with its 13 public holidays???), little me feels like a vacation.

Anywho on our drive home from the movies the hubby and I got talking about our cats and it reminded me of something. I cannot believe that I have not shared this website with you to date. I seriously, seriously can't believe it. It may have to do with the fact that as a German I don't want to be asociated with this topic all the time but this website is too funny. Cats that look like Hitler.

While most people show a sense of humor and appreciate the pictures it comes as no surprise that this website gets a lot of hatemail, which they liberally share with their readers. You'd be surprised how many people do not get it.

Cleo yodels

You probably remember this funny video of the Engineer's guide to cats and how they made their cats yodel.

I did try it with both of our cats. While Lilly tried to bite my neck (she hates being picked up)~ hey you can't just pick up Her Royal Highness, she didn't utter a single sound. Yes she despises us when we pick her up. She would also rather gnaw her paws off if it meant we'd leave her alone then.

Maunzerl on the other hand doesn't mind being picked up, only she wiggles like a nutcase (she also doesn't stay still when she wants to be petted). So I pick her up and all she does is she starts purring loudly.

Now Katie over at Made in Melbourne got her little cutie Cleo to yodel, check it out. The look on Cleo's face is priceless.

How to make your cat yodel!

In case you can't ascertain from reading my blog, I am a cat lover (I also l.o.v.e dogs but I am only allowed to have cats so they are the focus of all my attention). As a cat lover I am thrilled beyond belief when I come across funny cat videos on Youtube. Now this video made me laugh out loud several times.

The geeks, the cats, the lessons....I am sure I would have scratches all over my face if I were to force my kitties to yodel LOL!

When shit happens...

The hubby sent me the link to this bizarre news story (in German only).
A 27 year old man fell into an elevator shaft in an unoccupied house in Frankfurt/Main in Germany. Not only did he fall 20ft but he got away almost unscathed because a 57 year old unconcsious and badly hurt woman stopped his fall. She was rescued and most likely owes her life to the bad luck of the young man.

Now I am left to wonder how two people end up in an elevator shaft in an unoccupied building?!

On another note, I got home yesterday and my friend and her fiancé have moved out. On the one hand I am glad to have the apartment to myself or ourselves ones the hubby is back. On the other hand it feels weird to be alone. It is good to know that she only lives down the road really.

The cats have turned on each other and are attacking the other whenever she isn't looking. To rid Lilly of some of her energy I let her out when I got home during my lunchbreak. The sun was beating down and it was really warm. Too bad it started pouring down about two hours later and I had to do overtime today. Needless to say this didn't go down well with our 'Princess'. I called her and she left me standing in the rain for five minutes before she deigned it to be the right moment to grace me with her presence. She was soaking wet.

I did manage to get back into her good book by feeding her king prawns.... Yep she is spoiled. Thanks heaven Maunzerl hasn't got quite such an expensive taste or else we'd end up in the poorhouse.

Speed? I haz it!

...or maybe it should read 'I am on it' .

Nutcase cat is at it again. See her pass at lightning speed towards the end of the video. I swear she does that all the time. She comes out attacks you and runs away at supersonic speeds. It is a wonder the human eye can still detect her LOL!

Lazy and Proud

What a lazy weekend lies behind us and it was grand. Apart from the usual cleaning we pretty much just did whatever we felt like. We even managed to sleep in on Saturday, which is a rare thing.

Our two cats tend to beg for food and some TLC at five in the morning. No wonder they call it the "cat test". You test with cats first if you are ready for kids. Ok so I can't leave my baby to itself in the sun on the windowsill or bring it into the backyard at night. Not if you don't want to get arrested anyway. But for someone that is self sufficient and that did not have any responsibilities to this day, taking care of those two nutcases is a pretty big deal.

After half a year together they still don't socialize and manage to get along only 10% of the time. The majority of the time either of them tries to chase the other down the hallway, under beds, over the couch and up the scratch post. Well we haven't given up hope that eventually one day they will...but I don't want to jinx it by uttering the words out loud.

On another note. Why did they stuff a pair of tube socks down David Beckham's underwear? At the risk of sounding totally gross but it looks as though his Armani clad bulge is going to poke your eye out. Is anyone else grossed out by this aggresive display of his "golden balls" or whatever it is they call him over in England, or do you find it rather appealing???

What a day

Woke up this morning to about four inches of snow. We got a kick out of putting both cats into the snow on our balcony. While Lilly didn't care and all, Maunzerl was totally excited. It was her first time seeing snow and standing in it wasn't what she had in mind when she was coming out of our bathroom where she tends to warm her belly and pawes on the heated tiles.

Here's a photo from our living room window.

Maunzerl retreated to the radiator after her first encounter with snow. She really enjoys the heat during these cold times. Poor little kitty cat.

One down three to go

*Sigh* It seems one family member out of my tiny little family is always sick. First it was the hubby followed by Lilly the “big cat”. Yesterday we noticed that now that the two of them have recovered it is “the little one’s” turn to be ill. We may as well become regulars at the Vet. Maybe I should start asking for discount or a bonus card. Free goodies to be had include: a free temperature taking (anally), a free mouth and throat examination, a free flea treatment, a piece of cat food or a free shot. Yipeeeeh

Okay I realize that this isn’t funny and God knows I love those furry little creatures. No not the hubby – I do love him very much but thankfully he’s not furry. Soon comes the day that we will spend most of our spare time either at the Vet’s office or working to pay for the Vet bill.

So first thing this morning I called the Vet to get an appointment. I hope Maunzerl get’s over her cold as fast as Lilly did. When she sneezes it sounds as though someone squeezed a rubber duck. It is hilarious. Once again I realize this isn’t something I should poke fun at but I am well aware of the fact that my little sweetheart is sick and it will be taken care of asap. It does sound funny though. If we weren’t too lazy to buy a firewire cable we might be able to film it and put the video up here. For now you will have to believe my eyewitness account though.

Please wish her well for her second doctor’s visit today and keep your fingers crossed that everything will go well. She hates going in the car unlike Lilly, who seems impartial and is driven anywhere without complaints. Bringing the little one will be a fight.

Birddogcat made a boo boo

As I was sitting on our couch enjoying the sunshine flooding in through our french windows, our precious birddogcat jumps up and pees right on the couch. Not just a few sprinkles either but a full-on, steady stream of pee. Needless to say I was not pleased. I had forgotten that I had put the laundry in the dryer which incidently is in the guestbathroom where the cat's litter boxes are. They are scared of the rumbling noises of the dryer and it seems birddogcat had to go really urgently.

Normally I watch out that the cat's have access to their loo at all times and when I put the laundry in both cats were sound asleep. Unfortunately birddogcat woke up a mere 7 minutes before the dryer was done. Bad timing. I ran for a bucket and a cloth and sprayed it with Febreze afterwards. I hope to have gotten the worst off and it wont start to smell but we will see about that once it has dried entirely. Anyone has a tip what to use on catpee? Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Behold the birddogcat

Our little cat is a birddogcat. A what you might ask and rightfully so? A birddogcat! Part bird because she is chirping like one. Part dog because she retrieves things that we throw and part cat well because she is curious and cuddly like one.

Apart from running around like she's on speed she loves to sit on your lap when you type away on your laptop or scrambeling onto the keyboard of your computer in the office. She's a real blogger. She blogs with me whenever I sit down to do so or annoys the hubby when he is using the laptop.
So whenever we have enough we try to put her onto the couch but she keeps on crawling back. So the hubby took her up and she didn't like it. It shows. LMAO.
But she sure as hell likes to be with you every step of the way. So she is almost always present when we update her own blog :)
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Randoms

Thank God it's Friday. I haven't had a minute really all day so I haven't been able to post anything yet. So we went to the grocery store after work and when we got home we made dinner. We had Spaghetti Bolognese. It is simple to make and I can prepare it in my sleep plus it is so very yummy and done the Weight Watchers way.

Now we are cozy on the couch watching the cat sitting a mere 10 inches from the screen watching The Fast and the Furious. I guess she is a Vin Diesel Fan. Yesterday we realized that our little cat is retrieving her toys. Though I have to say she has very few toys that we bought. She just finds random things in our appartment that she can busy herself with for hours. The other day she found a cable tie and she's been dragging that thing all over the place. She brings it to us and we throw it. She goes after it, kills it with her hind legs and proudly brings it back to us. So funny. I just realized that we haven't posted any pictures of the cats in a while but the little one has grown so much she weighs about five and a half pounds now.

The hubby seems to come down with something so I put him into a hot bath and sent him to bed. I hope he won't get sick.

I won twice at Frigga's "name that song"quiz over at Any Apples . Go check it out it is quite funny. But no cheating allowed!

Anybody got any idea what I could make for dinner tomorrow night? I'd like to surprise my hubby with something nice that is not too time consuming to prepare. I should maybe add that he isn't into fish or seafood. I do cook almost every night and I do make things from scratch with fresh ingredients but somehow I seem to have run out of ideas.

Gimme my Food! Now!

This is smililar to what we have to put up with only that our little critters are not allowed on the furniture. But there's lots of shoving and pushing involved when the mini tigers are being fed.

Cat overdose

Thank goodness the hubby will be back tomorrow night. I really missed him. There is several reasons I can't wait for him to be back. Apart from the obvious reasons there is another one. One that has four legs, that is black and white, that purrs incessantly and follows me around wherever I go. I don't remember when the last time was that I was able to go to the bathroom by myself. As I am writing this she is sitting between me and the laptop, stretched across my left arm barely leaving me room to type.

Being home all day is not helping either. Don't get me wrong. I love the little one like crazy and I understand she is looking for physical contact and initally we were happy to have such a cuddely kitten. But I would really like to get up once in a while without having a cat between my legs as I am trying to walk. As soon as I walk into a room and close a door behind me I can hear her meowing as if it was the last time she'd see me.

Also she and Lilly still don't seem to get along. Anyone has any tips on how to bring an older and a younger cat together without them trying to kill each other? The little one is curious about everything Lilly does and Lilly on the other hand is quite annoyed by being followed around all the time. Yes, yes I do see parallels.

Last night the little one made herself comfortable in hubbie's bed when Lilly is demanding to be let into the bedroom. So I comply because I think it would be nice to have them around before going to sleep. The little one hides in a pile of blankets and Lilly lies down. They are physicall only parted by a summer duvet and Lilly has no clue that Maunzerl is only inches away from her. It just cracked me up to see that Lilly was so clueless. Only mere minutes after that photo was taken Lilly realized that we had unexpected company and the chase was on. So really. If any of you have any tips regarding the bringing together of two cats, I am desperate to hear what you have to say.

Day two

Into day two with the hubby gone and it is not pretty. Ok I may be a bit more touchy feely because I am feeling ill but I really do miss him as does Maunzerl.
He's only been gone for a day and already I am missing him like he's been gone for two weeks. Of course when you have the urge to speak to him VoiP calls are not working. After about 15 minutes he got through to me and it was nice to hear his voice.

I just realized how much I rely on him being there and how much I enjoy my everyday life with him.

Funnily enough Maunzerl is missing him as well. She came into the bedroom this morning, jumped onto his bed and started meowing like a mad cat. Seems like she too has realized that her beloved can opener is gone :)
