It is time for another TGIF post. This was my first week in the new job and I loved it. It exceeds my expectations by miles and goes to show that change is a good thing.
Everybody in the team was more than helpful. Sure there’s going to be the odd drawback and things are not always going to go smoothly but that’s just life. I am grateful to have found a job that I love in an economic crisis like this. Every company you hear or read about now cuts down on their spending. People aren’t hired as readily anymore and things look generally grim. That is why I am really grateful.
We’re going to go and see my parents this weekend. Can you believe that I get to see them less than when I lived abroad? It is ridiculous. Not that they wouldn’t want to see me. No they did not hang steak around my neck so that at least the dogs would play with me when I was little!
It’s just that everyone is just so darn busy. You’d think with all these time saving devices you would have more time but you don’t. The other day the hubby checked the calendar and noticed that between now and Christmas there is not a single weekend that we can spend in peace and quiet at home. Freaky? Yes but it also makes me look forward to the new year.
Anyway back to the time saving. I am really happy that we got all sorts of little helpers. Just imagine a good 60 years ago.
No washer, dryer, dishwasher, no GPS, no car no nothing. Now we’re just taking everything for granted. I am just saying because I got a beautiful sweater that I can’t throw into the washer with all the other things so when it needs to be laundered I have to hunker over the tub and knead and wash and scrub and wash and knead and wring. And when it is finally done and sweat is running down my forehead* I am appreciative of all the conveniences we get to enjoy. Ok I still only use my dryer when I absolutely have to. Mostly in winter because I simply prefer my clothes with that fresh airy smell and less wrinkly**but I sure am glad I can throw a load into it when I need to.
What’s your favorite convenience that makes you go “Yep that’s the shit and makes life real easy.”?
*Note this is only after one piece of clothing
** Not a big fan of ironing if it can be avoided.
