Now that we’re actually going to buy a house I was thinking of cutting back on unnecessary things like regularly getting my highlights done by my stylist. Instead I researched home solutions figuring if anything goes wrong, I can still see my favorite stylist to right the wrong.
Yeah that didn’t work out. After reading countless disastrous stories I realized there is no substitute for seeing a great stylist. Thus I will not cut back on getting my highlights done professionally but will go only once every three month…that should do.
If you had to cut back, what would you cut back on? Cosmetics? A manicure? Do tell.

Hmm.
I'd have to cut out the occasional diet cokes & "fruit and walnut salads" I get from McDonalds on the way to work.
And yes, I'd have to go to a cheaper stylist. I do my own color but I could save about $25 per cut if I went to one of the big national chains.
I'd defintely go with the DIY home solution if I were you. In the worst case scenario it won't take that long to grow back, and you can always wear a wig or a bag in the meantime ;-)
To answer your question: I'd not cut back on anything, which is why I live in rented accomodation.
I haven't colored my hair in over a year and home solutions scare the bejeezus out of me. If I had to cut out anything, especially since this can get expensive, would be eating out at lunch. I need to start taking brown bags to the office. I could easily save $50 a week that way. Geez! Saying that out loud sounds horrible.
Since getting married/having a baby/kicking out the 'ol roommates I have cut back on SO MUCH to save money.
I used to get bi-weekly manicure/pedicures. I used to go out to lunch every day. I used to go out to dinner and drinks with my friends all the time and buy shoes whenever I wanted and make elaborate gormet dinners at home..
Uh, needless to say, life has changed. The funny thing is, I don't really miss any of those things! Who would've thought?!
I've saved a lot of cash lately by giving up coffee from Starbucks and by bringing my lunch to work instead of buying it.
