When you suffer from airport brain

Yes I am still alive, if indeed anyone was wondering.

The conference and Disney left me feeling drained and I still haven’t properly recovered yet. Wednesday I got up to drive to the suburban train, praying that it wasn’t affected by the ongoing strikes. I get outside and find the car covered in snow. There’s nothing like cleaning your car in the icy cold at 4 am when all you want to do is snuggle up under the duvet.

I got to the airport in time and encountered the first laugh of the day. When I was about to check in a girl in her early twenties was about to check in at the desk next to me. As I had already gotten my boarding pass from the machine and only needed to drop my bag at the counter I heard her ask if her driver’s license was sufficient to fly. There’s hardly any passport control within the European Union but girly I don’t think that this will suffice. Needless to say that her face dropped when she was left with the option to go back home and get a proper ID or being left stranded at the airport. Unfortunately I didn’t hang around long enough to see if she would make it. So it is true. People do suffer from what we used to call “airport brain” upon entering an airport. It seems they become really, really stupid.

At the gate I met some of my colleagues and we were approached by a young girl who (at 5 in the morning) was conducting a survey. I don’t remember who she was working for but we did enjoy her face when she got to the question to the purpose of our travels

Girl: Are you travelling on business?
Me: Yes!
Girl: Where are you going?
Disneyland!
Girl: ????
Me and some colleagues: Yes, Disney! Huge uproar.

She did look confused but we didn’t care. Who conducts a stupid survey at this ungodly hour anyway?

The flight left on time and we arrived in beautiful sunny Paris. Too bad we didn’t see a thing as we were whisked to Disneyland upon setting foot on French soil. More on Paris and meeting colleagues that I have never before seen because they work in Europe, the Middle East or Asia tomorrow and maybe even some pictures.

People shouldn't be able to conduct surveys at ANY time of day.

oh my, I did not know there was a Disneyland in Paris!

I live in California and thought we had the only one! And Disney World in Florida.

Each day I learn something new. Cool.
