World's Most Expensive Hamburger

Fancy paying $ 200 for a Hamburger at Burger King? No? Neither would I and if I did I would expect a cow on my burger bun.

A Burger King in London introduced the pricey burger that is made of Wagyu beef, white truffles, Pata Negra ham slices, onion straws fried in Cristal champagne, Modena balsamic vinegar, lambs lettuce, pink Himalayan rock salt, organic white wine and shallot infused organic mayonnaise. The burger is sitting atop an Iranian saffron and white truffle dusted bun.

WTF?

Admittedly it does sound delicious but I don't think I would pay $ 200 for it. Incidentally the most expensive dinner I ever had cost $ 200 but it consisted of a wonderful appetizer, a really great tasting main course and a lovely mousse au chocolat (the best I ever had) with gold leaf for dessert and wonderful wine. Mmmh.

When we go out to dinner to our favorite restaurant we pay $ 30 for a dinner for two. We get a glass of sparkling wine on the house as an appetizer as well as a bowl of salad before the main course. That includes drinks though we usually don't have wine with dinner.

What is the most you have spent on a dinner and the most you would spend and what do you consider your average cost for a dinner at your preferred restaurant?

That is insane! The most expensive meal I ever had was in New York for Thanksgiving - $175 per person but my aunt paid, not me. At my preferred restaurant (considering I'm not on a budget) my meal would cost approx. $60 per person.

You know, that burger doesn't sound that appetizing to me. It's culinarily too busy for my taste.
Give me a normal burger & I'll put the rest of the money in the bank.

Oh, I forgot to answer your question...

Friends of ours took us to a very exclusive restaurant with only
5 tables and a chef who was very involved in perfecting your dish. I can't even approximate how much that cost our friends because there were no prices on the menu. I'm sure it was a lot.

It doesn't sound that good to me and I would never pay that much for one.

What you have to consider is perhaps there is a twofer Tuesdays or a buy one get one coupon in the local Penny Saver flyer

Uncommon Blonde - That is one expensive Thanksgiving dinner but I bet it was yummy.

Cube - I agree it seems that all those amazing ingredients are wasted on something as simple as a burger. A menu without prices always means it is wicked expensive doesn't it?

Steph - Well it doesn't sound bad. I am just afraid I wouldn't be able to tell the expensive meat apart from your normal burger patty :)

David - Yeah I always tend to forget the coupons ;o)

Holy cow!

Luckily, being attached to a Chef he'd generally know someone in the really expensive and nice kitchens, and we'd wrangle drinks/dessert etc from them for spreading word of their wonderfulness etc :)

I think the most - for the two of us - would be around the $200 mark, but that was an all out anniversary dinner, with appertifs etc.

These days we're on a budget (damn house prices!) and it's more llike $20 at McDonalds!

See...I dont' think that sounds good at all-too much stuffage on it and too many flavors. And also, you can't fry something in champagne. It's not a fat. Sounds like it's just thrown in there to get people to buy it.

The most I've spent on a dinner for two is about...$125. I love going to really nice places and tasting a bunch of things and getting wine paired with it. Fun stuff for a chef!

I'm compiling a list of places I want to try over the next couple of years (you have to plan for these things!).

*sigh* I love food.

I think the most we've ever spent is $150 and that covered soup to nuts including tip. We don't do that often. $200 for a burger? Not happening!

I would never pay that much for a burger- but I have spent a LOT of money on dinners before. For Erick's birthday dinners that tab usually comes out to over $500. But that is for 6-7 people and includes drinks.. LOTS of drinks.
