really not newsworthy

Every morning I start out the day by sitting down with my coffee to watch the news. While I don’t think that the coverage of Michael Jackson’s funeral is necessarily newsworthy, I couldn’t help but notice the look on Janet Jackson’s face as she was lead to her seat.

Anyone seen that footage? That look on her mug struck me as totally fake. Now I might be wrong but I have seen it twice and I don’t buy the “suffering relative”. Now if the media was in my face all the time I’m sure I’d pull a gazillion faces but something about that look didn’t say grieving – it said “coldly calculating”.

Anyway I just wish the media would stop covering funerals as intensely as they do and give the families and fans some space to mourn.

* Update: This however I would totally qualify as news. File this under: ironic. Done and done.

“A MoveOn protester bit off the finger of an anti-Obama protester at a health care rally.” Guess it would have been funnier the other way around…

By the time the funeral finally started, we were in bed. What a production. Bury the guy already: he's been dead for two months!!!!

Blech!

I can't understand what's newsworthy about other people's grief either. I wonder how many other families were burying loved ones that day.

I agree. I think media coverage of MOST THINGS is a bit out of control. Sheesh.
