Gotta say a thing or two about friends. My best friend and I have been separated by 1800km since January of this year when I decided to get married and move to Germany.
Now we email often and talk over the phone quite a bit.
Today she heard that I was not feeling well and had to leave work early. So she texted me first to let me know she was thinking of me and then called later in the evening just to hear how I was doing and whether I needed someone to tend to me. She knew I was on my own and she was worried.
It almost made me cry and made me appreciate too just how cool she really is and how lucky I am to have her as a friend.

I know exactly how you feel about your friend. It's such a great feeling knowing some is there watching out for us.
Where did you used to live before Germany? How do you like where you live now?
Yes, some friendships indeed last forever. You don't have to see them everyday. We may have our own different lives apart from them, but our hearts never left.
Hi Patty, I am German but I have lived abroad for quite a while. I used to live in the US for more than a year and I used to live in Ireland for almost five years. I met my husband, who coincidentally is also German in Dublin. We had a whirlwind romance and got engaged in Ireland about 9 monts into our relationship. Another four months later we got married and I followed him back to Germany, where he got a great job offer. We do however play with the thought of moving abroad in about two or three years time again.
