Adventure Honeymoon - Part I

Alright so I had the feeling we are not going to get to Phuket that easily. We checked in for our flight to Bangkok late last night and the flight itself was fine. Well as fine as a 10 hour flight in coach can be. The Thai Airways crew was very attentive and the in-flight meals were actually quite tasty.

So we got into Bangkok fine on Saturday morning local time and all flights to Phuket or Ko Samui were cancelled. We were told we could either wait until 6pm when there might be more news on whether the airports would open again. Due to the long waitinglist there would only be a small chance for two seats on one of the next flights out. Go figure.

We were also told we could fly to any of the other islands and then fly to Phuket one week later...but that wasnt really an option. Now we took a taxi into Bangkok and let me tell you that ride was adventurous. They actually have screaming pink taxis here.

We booked two seats on the night bus to Phuket, which will take ten hours and my butt won't thank me for it but it was really the only option available. We just spent 5 hours in the bus station/shopping mall, having some food, sitting in a massage chair. Quite a lot of fun.

So this whole trip turns out to be a little more interesting that we'd thought previously but heck we're gonna take it as it comes and make the best of it. Hopefully by tomorrow morning we will have reached our final destination. Right now we're a bit sleep deprived but morale is still high.

Keep your fingers crossed. Hope all is well with you and I will make sure to catch up with all of your blogs later.

Oh my, you guys are such troopers...I would be losing my mind by now!!

I hope that in the end all of this extra stuff is easily forgotten when your butt is in a sunlounger and you have a fruity drink in your hand!!

Enjoy!

Kat,

I saw stuff on the news this morning about strikes in Thailand, so I'm glad you got there okay. You're certainly having an adventure!

Adventure is right...
I think that, once you've arrived and had a chance to relax and really enjoy it, you'll be happy to have a story to tell! :) (well, maybe?)
