nag, nag, nag

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

I just learned that the hubby, who was responsible to rsvp-ing our attendance to his friend’s 30th birthday party, forgot to let him know that we would like to avail of the special rate they would get at a cute little hotel that is literally next door to their apartment.

A lovely hotel it was too. The hubby couldn’t care less. He despises hotel stays. He’s away on business a lot. Spending evening after evening alone in a business hotel, in rooms without a lot of convenience and that probably all look the same, isn’t his idea of fun. For me a hotel stay is an indulgence. Something you do only on special occasions.

Now I wasn’t particularly looking forward to the party. Not because I don’t like my hubby’s friends. Quite the opposite, they are lovely people. It is the fact that I will be at a party where I will know absolutely noone apart from the hubby and the other couple. So I was looking forward to spend a lovely night at the hotel, enjoy the brunch, enjoy the jacuzzi…

After a lot of nagging the hubby finally called today but we learned that the hotel was booked out. I don’t know about you but when I had something in mind and suddenly the plan changes it ticks me off. So I was tempted to go all nasty on my better half’s ass. Then thought better of it and let it go…

Am I not flexible enough? I have never been a big fan of spontaneous decisions. Is that so terrible?

It's a comfort zone thing. I like arrangements like that to be sorted ahead of time too, though I can understand your husband's lack of enthusiasm. I'd be slightly dreading the party, but knowing deep down that I'd probably end up enjoying it.

Brian You're probably right but a girl can dream of fancy hotels and steaming jaccuzzis :)

Ugh. I don't think it's a flexibility issue; I think you're just a girl who knows what she wants. :) Could hubby's friend call the hotel and see if they might have a room that they are hiding? Just an idea...

Melisa They did but unfortunately half of the party is staying there and now they're totally book. Bawl.
Oh well but thanks for the encouraging words. I feel better now.

Has anyone ever told you that men have a defective chromosome? This is a classic example of Defective Chromosome Disorder (DCD). Keep trying, you can help him overcome his DCD to a point, though the decision of course is his. Hope you enjoy the party at least, totally sucks to miss out on the nice hotel!

Microblogologist You totally crack me up. Yes, I had a feeling that I'm up against a force of nature here. Humans have been messing with nature for ages, so I'll just have to keep trying. Thanks for the insights and encouraging words ;o)

Eh- I can go both ways on this one. It would have totally irritated me if my husband blew ME off and didn't make reservations- however, perhaps you can find somewhere else nice to stay nearby? When a door closes a window opens? I still would have bitched at my hubs though! ; )

Did you try an online reservation site? There may be some off rooms that are being held by those sites.
